Andorian progress

Found the wig for my Andorian costume today.



I need a wig brush because it needs some serious styling. It's super cheap, and the bangs are super annoying, but it'll do.

Now all that's left is to buy some blue paint (I have to go downtown to the Norcostco for that, so probably next week sometime), sculpt the antennae (I've got the model magic and wire for them though), and alter the dress which is way too big for me right now.

I'm considering getting blue contacts as well, but I've never worn contacts so I dunno. We'll see. I look pretty weird with white hair and my natural coloring though.

Anyway, wigs are fun but damn it's hot under there!

I love the wig! And I keep thinking I might do something with contacts this year--I've never worn them either, but I keep thinking I might brave up and try it.

I'm not weirded out by the idea and I can handle putting things in my eyes. It's more an issue of will they be horribly uncomfortable or make me go blind or something. LOL

I tried so hard to wear contacts (for actual vision correction) but found they dried my eyes out like crazy. They recommended only wearing them for short periods of time and then working up, so if you'll only be wearing them for a couple/few hours you'd probably be OK.

At most it would be 4 hours, and it's for our house party so I could always take them out if things go wrong.

I think you'll be in for a learning curve re: contacts if you're not used to them. :)

Just learning to take them in/out can be stressful when you first start and they will probably feel aggravating until your eye muscles adjust. (Also: headache trigger if you wear them too long at first.)

My husband has them but rarely wears them because he doesn't wear them often enough to get in the habit and to the point where it feels natural. He sees me doing it so easily and thinks he can just jump in there and do it too but you can't. (I've had them since I was 15.)

Good to know. Jason wears contacts and I didn't even think about getting used to them. Maybe I'll go ahead and order a pair and see how I do. The cosmetic ones I'm looking at are only $25, so it's not like I'm out a bunch of money if they don't work.
